Here is some additional information about renting commercial space at the Festival Western St-Tite (FWST).
There are two rental possibilities.

  1. Rental of a space which falls under Festival jurisdiction.
  2. Rental of a space from a private owner.

In both cases (above) the lots used are on the Festival site.

For lots rented by the Festival (FWST)

  1. The FWST organization collects the names of people requesting space and adds them to a waiting list. Every January, the waiting list is cleared. For 2011, the new list will begin as of January 31st (approximately).
  2. The leasees from a previous year are granted the right to renew. The FWST forwards offers to renew during the months of May and June and if spaces become available, the waiting list is used taking into account two criteria; date of the request and type of product sold.
  3. The cost to rent a 10 foot by 10 foot space varies between 1500$ and 2500$. This prices does not include taxes (PST, GST) nor the necessary municipal permit cost (between 475$ and 2500$). In some cases, the price of a kiosk (stand) may be included. All prices are subject to change.

For lots rented by private owners

  1. The procedure is to visit St-Tite during the month of May or June and to conduct a search for space. If required, the FWST will supply a map of the town.
  2. Because you are dealing with a private owner, there are no standards for the price of rental, and owners can charge prices they choose. The cost to rent a 10 foot by 10 foot space varies between 500$ and 3000$, depending on the type of product being sold. In general, the cost of the municipal permit is not included in the price.
